I had always wondered that there must be some way that the wheelchair  could charge  a mobile phone or tablet.

 While it was tempting  to get into changing wiring and  possibly making a mess of things I was very happy to stumble across a more professional product that plugs directly into the charging port of the chair and has a USB port and a light.

 The Power Buddy  is very well made and the LED light is very bright,  there is also no need to worry about running down your wheelchair battery as the 5V  USB charger  draws very little.
